This was a driving force behind my decision to start a blog. Fishing is such a big part of my life and I get so much out of it that I thought I somehow needed to capture that and even share it with others…Fishing is more than just catching fish; it’s an experience that creates memories that last a lifetime. For me, fishing has been a big part of my life for over 45 years, and I still get tremendous joy out of it today. In this post, I’ll explain how fishing is more than just catching fish and how getting introduced to it at an early age made it a big part of my life.
Fishing connects us with nature and disconnects us from the stresses of everyday life. It’s a way to slow down and appreciate the world around us. When I was a kid, my dad took me fishing for the first time, and it was an experience that changed my life. We didn’t catch many fish that day, but I remember the smell of the water, the sound of the birds, and the feeling of the sun on my face. I also remember the patience my dad demonstrated as any parent knows what taking a toddler fishing actually entails and how frustrating it can be.
Over the years, I’ve realized that fishing is not just about catching fish. It’s about being outside, exploring new places, and spending time with friends and family. I sometimes refer to the river or lake as my sanctuary. I just find so much peace being on or in the water. Everything seems to fade away once the first cast hits the water. But don’t get me wrong, getting skunked sucks and every fishing trip is definitely better when a whole lotta fish were caught.
Fishing has taken me to some of the most beautiful places in the world and I don’t think I have met another fisherman I didn’t feel an instant connection with.
Every time I go fishing, I learn something new about myself and the world around me. This is why I continue to love this amazing sport and hope I can do it for another 45 plus years!!
